The Jackson County SMART Business program is a free service that helps businesses, organizations and schools to identify cost-effective strategies that reduce waste in the workplace and conserve natural resources.
- Identify solid waste reduction measures and solutions that reduce business costs and conserve natural resources.
- Provide recommendations, logistical support, staff training and contact information to implement new business practices.
- Inform participants about additional opportunities with regional organizations to conserve energy and water, choose clean electricity, employ low-impact transportation options and sustain our local economy.
- Give participants public recognition for being a SMART business.
- Participate in a solid waste survey. Working with the program coordinator, you provide details about waste generated at your business, and the coordinator will use that information to develop recommendations specific to your business.
- Consider and implement waste reduction solutions identified in the survey process.
- Share information regarding waste reduction progress, successes and cost-savings.
